The open program

The open program is the core of our portfolio: the diverse possibilities in our creative workshop and our media lab can be individually used. Visitors freely choose the time of their visit as well as the type and the duration of stay. Every artist can take the time he or she needs. With friends, parents, grandparents or siblings – at the Kinderkunsthaus experimenting and creating is fun. The open program is designed for children of all ages, we individually ensure that no one is overwhelmed or underchallenged. In the creative workshop and the media lab we offer a continually changing range of work possibilities. The open program can be visited Wednesday to Friday in the afternoon as well as all-day on weekends. It is designed for children from age 2-14, one parent or chaperone is required to stay with the child in the open program. Children and adolescents from the age of 10 can visit Kinderkunsthaus alone for up to 2,5 hours. For this we will need the letter of agreement of a parent.

In the workshop the children paint, draw, print, form, construct, build and much more. Diverse design themes and creation techniques give the children the opportunity to be creative. They are also encouraged to put their own ideas into practice. Whatever the little artists choose to do they definitely take home a very special self-made piece that they can be proud of.

Media Lab

In the media lab children can try filming, take pictures, illustrate, write and work on their own layout. Here they explore the digital world and playfully approach various multimedia techniques like working with a computer, a film or photo camera. They create their own stop-motion and animation films, photos, posters, cards, books or comic strips. In the bluebox the children become a movie hero. The reading corner invites them to take a book and be inspired for their next drawing or simply look through a book or read. We also offer exciting read aloud sessions on a regular basis.

Individual gifts

Most of the material is included in the admission charge. That means, that whatever the children create during their stay at the Kinderkunsthaus can be taken home. However there are exceptions: if a child wants to make a painting on real canvas for his or her grandpa, design a cloth bag for the sister or produce a linoleum print, there is special material available at the counter at purchase price which can be used in the workshop.
